Remember that if you intend to complete the Honors Certificate, you need to take HUM 230, which is only offered in fall semesters.

Congratulations to our four Honors Certificate Graduates.  Having taken at least 12 hours of Honors courses, including Leadership Development, these students were the first in Honors Program history to earn the certificate and medallion. 

Also, congratulations to the winners of the First Annual WCC Honors Program Poster/Presentation Session.  The displays were interesting, students were engaging, and the feedback from administration, faculty, parents, and visitors was that you all did an outstanding job!  Our winners were:

Mark Your Calendars for our Honors Celebration

Join SGA Awards Ceremony

 

Students will have displays of their projects and work from the year set up at different tables around the room.  Friends, family, faculty, and visitors can enjoy refreshments and mingle from table to table to have students explain their work.  Later, we will celebrate the accomplishments of the year and present medallions to those who will graduate with the honors certificate this year. 

 

UNC Trip

Thanks to the Foundation of WCC for sponsoring our recent trip to UNC!  We had an amazing day touring the campus and the art museum, viewing the Rare Book Collection, and seeing the play, The Glass Menagerie.  What an amazing day!  Check out the pictures below and click on “comments” to see what students and faculty have had to say about the trip.

We celebrated our inaugural semester in August of 2008, and we strive to help students of high academic achievement reach their potential in the classroom. We also incorporate leadership development and service learning into our curriculum and work to make our Honors program a positive, safe, and stimulating learning community.

The pictures below chronicle some of the activities that our students participated in during the first semester of our Honors program.

Honors Students help children learn to serve their own communities.  Sanjita, Connie, Adrienne, and Alison used a national grant awarded through Volunteer Wayne for Family Volunteer Day to help children in underdeveloped neighborhoods reach out to elderly neighbors.

Honors students teamed with Wayne Early Middle College High School and WCC SGA to collect canned foods for the soup kitchen.
